Compassion
I grew up in a small village in rural Austria, where i felt very much looked after and supported.

I consider myself as very lucky, education in Austria is free and

I studied for 12 years at the university, music education, psychology and piano.
When i moved to London, i realized that there are so many people who could not have the education I had, something I took for granted for a very long time. And during the past years, as I have collaborated with and supported many exceptional people from all walks of life and different cultures, I have come to understand how I can contribute to the social community.

A few years ago I met Unathi on a plane from London to Vienna, where she told me about her plans to assist in transforming education in the Eastern Cape, SA. I got very exited because I always wanted to help underpriviledged children and very strongly believe that every child deserves the same education no matter what background.
This seemed a great opportunity to offer my skills and experience. And to work in collaboration with the department of education and various academic institutions in Europe and South Africa on a teacher training program pilot to support South African Schools, their teachers and communities.

So I became a part and trustee of FUNDA TRUST.

As it was very important for me to feel the country, the people and children I will work with, I went on a first fact finding mission with Themba in 2019 and a second one just before the pandemic. To see and meet the children, teachers and parents in person definitely confirmed my feeling to help in the Eastern Cape. I was touched immensly and the mission became part of my life purpose.

Through FUNDA TRUST I get the chance to give back what I had my whole life - access to education and support.

It is not easy as we had many obstacles on the way and the pandemic does not help us either. But we have a wonderful team in place and I really hope that we can start our pilot program as soon as possible. The children and teachers in the Eastern Cape are waiting for us.
